Kool & the Gang - Love & Understanding

Today Marks The 50 Anniversary of Kool & the Gang’s 7th Studio Album “Love & Understanding” Originally Released on March 1, 1976.

 

“Love & Understanding” is the seventh studio album by Jazz, Funk band Kool & the Gang released in 1976 on De-Lite Records.

 

The album peaked at #9 on the U.S. Billboard Soul LP's chart, and at #68 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes charts.

 

Four songs were released as singles, “Love and Understanding (Come Together)”,  "Hollywood Swinging”, "Summer Madness," and "Universal Sound.”

 

“Love and Understanding (Come Together)” peaked at #8 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, and at #77 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

 

"Hollywood Swinging” and "Summer Madness" both are from previous albums, Wild and Peaceful” (1974) and “Spirit of the Boogie” (1975).

 

"Universal Sound" reached #71 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, and at #101 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

 

The songs were "Hollywood Swinging", "Summer Madness" and "Universal Sound" were recorded live at the Rainbow Theatre in London, England.
