James Brown - I Can't Stand Myself When You Touch Me

Today Marks The 58th Anniversary of James Brown’s 18th Studio Album “People” Originally Released on March 1, 1968.

 

“I Can't Stand Myself When You Touch Me” is the eighteenth studio album by American soul, funk musician James Brown released in 1968 on King Records.

 

The album reached #17 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes charts.

 

Four singles were released from the album, "Get It Together", "The Soul of J.B.", "I Can't Stand Myself (When You Touch Me)", and "You've Got to Change Your Mind".

 

"Get It Together" reached #11 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Rhythm & Blues Singles chart, and at #40 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

 

"The Soul of J.B." was the second single released from the album it failed to chart on the Billboard charts.

 

"I Can't Stand Myself (When You Touch Me)"  peaked at #4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Rhythm & Blues Singles chart, and at #28 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The single's B-side, "There Was a Time", also charted.

 

"You've Got to Change Your Mind” reached #47 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Rhythm & Blues Singles chart.

 

"You've Got to Change Your Mind” was a duet between Bobby Byrd and James Brown.
