Today Marks The 46th Anniversary of Herbie Hancock’s 23rd Studio Album “Monster” Originally Released on March 1, 1980.
“Monster” is the twenty-third song album by jazz, funk pianist Herbie Hancock released in 1980 on Columbia Records.
The album reached #24 on the U.S. Billboard Soul LP's chart, and at #94 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes charts.
The song "Stars in Your Eyes," was released as a single from the album it reached#33 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles charts.
The album’s second single “Go for It” reached #12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Music charts.
“Monster” is generally considered a decent, well-recorded album for the disco era, but not a highlight of Hancock's career. It is recommended for fans of 1980s pop-funk rather than those seeking traditional jazz-fusion.
