Switch - This Is My Dream

Today Marks The 45th Anniversary of Switch’s 4th Studio Album “This Is My Dream” Originally Released on (November 1, 1980.

“This Is My Dream” is the fourth studio album by Mansfield, Ohio R&B/Funk band Switch released in 1980 on Gordy Records.

The album reached #80 on the U.S. Billboard Soul LP's chart, and at #85 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart.

Two songs were released as singles from the album, “Love Over and Over Again” and “You and I”.

“Love Over and Over Again” peaked at #9 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart.

“You and I” reached #57 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart.

Other album standouts include "All I Need Is You", "Why'd You Let Love Fall" and the album’s title track "This Is My Dream”.

“This Is My Dream” is the only album during their tenure with Motown Records that doesn’t feature input from their former producer Jermaine Jackson.

The album was solely produced by Switch themselves.

“This Is My Dream” was also the band’s final album that featured brothers Bobby and Tommy DeBarge.

Shortly after the DeBarge brothers left Switch to mentor their younger siblings in the group DeBarge, and lead singer Phillip Ingram left to pursue a solo career, Switch took on new vocalists and musicians: singer Renard Gallo, Gonzales Ozen, and bassist Phil Upchurch Jr. This configuration of Switch signed with Total Experience Records (home of their contemporaries the Gap Band) and recorded a final album Am I Still Your Boyfriend? in 1984, breaking up later that year.
