Today Marks The 44th Anniversary of Skyy’s 4th Studio Anniversary “Skyy Line” Originally Released on November 20, 1981.

 

“Skyy Line” is the fourth studio album by New York City-based group Skyy, released in 1981 on Salsoul Records.

 

The album peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Soul LP's chart, and at #18 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart.

 

Three singles were released from the album, "Call Me", "Let's Celebrate" and "When You Touch Me".

 

"Call Me" peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, #3 on the U.S. Billboard Dance Club Songs chart, and at #26 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

 

"Let's Celebrate" reached #16 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart.

 

"When You Touch Me" reached #43 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart.

 

Songs like "Girl In Blue," "Jam The Box," and "Get Into The Beat" are noted for their strong grooves, while "Gonna Get It On" is recognized as a standout with a Latin influence.

 

The album was produced by Randy Muller, Solomon Roberts, Jr.

 

The album is praised for its stylistic diversity, blending slick R&B/funk with ballads and other sounds, with songs like "Let's Celebrate" and "Girl in Blue" also highlighted. It marked a shift from the band's earlier "Star Wars-inspired" image to a more "cosmopolitan milieu".
