Today Marks The 45th Anniversary of Slave's 5th Studio Album "Stone Jam" Originally Released on November 20, 1980.
"Stone Jam" is the fifth album by the American funk band Slave. It was released in 1980 on Cotillion Records a subsidiary of Atlantic Records.
The album peaked at #53 on
The Billboard 200 chart and at #5 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
The album was listed on Billboard's 1981 Year-End Chart and was certified Gold by the RIAA.
Three singles were released from the album "Sizzlin' Hot", Feel My Love and "Watching You.”
"Sizzlin' Hot" reached #57 on the U.S. Billboard R&B Singles Chart.
The second single "Feel My Love" peaked at #62 on the U.S. Billboard R&B Singles Chart.
"Watching You" was the third single released from the album. The song peaked at #6 on the U.S. Billboard R&B Singles Chart, #23 on the U.S. Billboard Dance Club Play chart and at #78 on The Billboard Hot 100.
Slave's fifth album, "Stone Jam", was their highest charting since their first album Slave, and their second to be certified Gold.
The band's drummer, Steve Arrington, took on more singing responsibilities than on previous albums and this, combined with the vocals of Curt Jones and Starleana Young, contributed to the album's success.
