Remembering Roger Troutman

#Remembering

Roger Troutman (November 29, 1951 – April 25, 1999), also known simply as Roger, was an American singer, musician, songwriter, and record producer.

He was the founder of the band Zapp who helped spearhead the funk movement and influenced West Coast hip hop due to the scene's heavy sampling of his music.

Roger Troutman's biggest hit songs include the Zapp & Roger hits "More Bounce to the Ounce", "I Can Make You Dance", So Ruff, So Tuff", "Doo Wa Ditty (Blow That Thing)", "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and "Computer Love" as well as his solo track "I Want to Be Your Man".

He also had a huge hit with Tupac Shakur on the song "California Love," which was a major crossover success.
