Ohio Players - Ouch!

Today Marks The 44th Anniversary of The Ohio Players 14th Studio Album “Ouch!” Originally Released on November 17, 1981.

 

“Ouch!” is the fourteenth studio album by Dayton, Ohio Jazz-Funk  band The Ohio Players released in 1981 on Boardwalk Records.

 

The album reached #52 on the U.S. Billboard Soul LP's chart, and at #201 just beneath the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart.

 

The song "The Star of the Party" was released as the album’s only single it reached #58 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart.

 

Other Notable tracks: "Just Me," a smooth ballad, and "I'd Better Take A Coffee Break," and “Devotion”. The rest of the album is fairly bland it doesn’t have that rawness of their earlier albums.

 

Ouch! marked as one of the final studio albums by the original Ohio Players lineup. By this point, most of the group's classic hit-making era was already behind them the band was already running out of ideas musically.
