Today Marks The 43rd Anniversary of Chaka Khan’s 4th Solo Studio Album and Self-titled Album “Chaka Khan” Originally Released on November 17, 1982.

 

“Chaka Khan” is the fourth solo album by Soul, Funk singer Chaka Khan released in 1982 by Warner Bros. Records.

 

The album peaked at #5 on the U.S. Billboard Black LPs chart, and at #52 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes charts.

 

Two singles were released from the album, "Got to Be There" and  "Tearin' It Up".

 

"Got to Be There" peaked at #5 on the U.S. Billboard Black Singles chart, and at #67 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

 

 "Tearin' It Up" reached #48 on the U.S. Billboard Black Singles chart.

 

Despite its many accolades and artistic achievements the Chaka Khan album remained unreleased on CD in both the United States and Europe, and was only available as an import from Japan, until it was finally issued on CD in the UK in 2010 as part of a Five disc set containing Khan's first five solo albums.
