Today Marks The 41st Anniversary of Kool & the Gang’s 16th Studio Album “Emergency” Originally Released on November 15, 1984.

 

“Emergency” is the sixteenth studio album by the American jazz funk band Kool & the Gang, released in 1984 on De-Lite Records.

 

The album peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Top Black Albums chart and at #13 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.

 

The album produced four US top 20 hit singles including "Fresh", "Misled", the title track "Emergency" and the album's biggest hit, the million-selling "Cherish".

 

"Fresh" peaked at #1 on both the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles and the U.S. Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. The song also peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100.

 

“Misled” peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles and at #9 on the U.S. Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. The song also peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

 

“Emergency” reached  #7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart, #18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #41 on the U.S. Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.

 

"Cherish" peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart, and at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

 

The album was certified double platinum in the United States by the RIAA selling over 2,000,000^ copies.
