Today Marks The 32nd Anniversary of Bernie Worrell’s 4th Studio Album “Pieces of Woo: The Other Side” Originally Released on November 19, 1993.
“Pieces of Woo: The Other Side” is the fourth studio album by funk keyboardist Bernie Worrell released in 1993 on CMP Records.
The album did not appear on major commercial charts, such as the Billboard charts. Instead of a commercial chart history, its story is defined by its avant-garde artistic merit and status as a cult classic.
The album is a departure for Worrell, blending jazz, avant-noise, and experimental music with strong funk overtones, rather than being a straight-up funk album.
The album displays "jaw-dropping" and a "delightful adventure" into new sonic territories as none of the album’s tracks contain drums or percussions.
The album features funk musicians Fred Wesley, Buckethead, and Umar Bin Hassan.
The album’s standouts are “The Mask'", and 'Gladiator Skull' both displaying funky overtones.
The album was reissued on vinyl for the first time by Tidal Waves Music.
