Today Marks The 45th Anniversary of Con Funk Shun’s 8th Studio Album “7” Originally Released on November 19, 1981.
“7” is the eighth studio album by the Vallejo, California funk/r&b band Con Funk Shun, released in 1981 on Mercury Records.
The album reached #17 on the U.S. Billboard Top Soul LPs, and at #82 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes charts.
Two songs were released as singles from the album, "Bad Lady" and "Straight From The Heart”.
"Bad Lady" reached #19 on the U.S. Hot Black Singles charts.
"Straight From The Heart" reached #79 on the U.S. Hot Black Singles chart.
The album is noted for retaining the band's signature funk sound while experimenting with new styles.
Some critics praised the album's blend of funk, soul, and rock, while others felt it lacked the impact of their previous work.
