Today Marks The 40th Anniversary of Sheila E’s Debut Studio Album “The Glamorous Life” Originally Released on June 4, 1984.
“The Glamorous Life” is the debut studio album by the singer/drummer/percussionist Sheila E. It was released in 1984 by Warner Bros. Records.
The album peaked at #7 on the U.S. Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts and at #28 on the
U.S. Billboard 200.
Two songs were released from the album, the title track “The Glamorous Life” and
“The Glamorous Life” peaked #1 on the U.S. Billboard Dance Club Songs chart, #7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and at #9 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart.
"The Glamorous Life" was written by Prince, The track earned two Grammy Award nominations and three MTV Award nominations.
"The Belle of St. Mark" was the second single from the album it reached #34 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and at #68 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart.
