Cameo - Style

Today Marks The 39th Anniversary of Cameo’s 9th Studio Album “Style” Originally Released on April 11,1983.
Style is the ninth album by the funk band Cameo, released in 1983 on their Atlanta Artists Record label, with which they maintained their distribution through Polygram Records.
The album peaked at #14 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and at #53 on Billboard’s Pop Albums chart.
Two singles were released from the album, Style and Slow Movin’.
“Style” reached #14 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
“Slow Movin’” reached #47 on Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
At the time, Cameo was going through a transition, having gone from a 10 member band down to five on their “Alligator Woman” to down to four members on the release of “Style” with an extreme makeover in their sound.
Their former big funk band sound was now being replaced by all the elements of the electronic age (i.e., keyboards, synthesizers and Simmons drums). Their music was self-proclaimed as "21st Century Bebop" and the band prided themselves on the use of non-conventional drums.
