“Broadway's Closer to Sunset Blvd” is the debut studio album by Isley-Jasper-Isley released in 1984 by CBS / Epic Records.

The album reached #28 on the U.S. Billboard Top Black Albums chart and at #135 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.

Two songs were released as singles from the album “Look the Other Way" and "Kiss and Tell".

"Look the Other Way" reached #14 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart.

"Kiss and Tell" reached #46 on the U.S. Billboard Dance Club Songs chart, #52 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart and at #62 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

The album was announced by Marvin Isley as a separate project from The Isley Brothers rather than a permanent departure from the band.

The album was written, produced & arranged by Isley-Jasper-Isley.

Instant Funk - Get Down with the Philly Jump

Today Marks The 49th Anniversary of Instant Funk’s Debut Studio Album “Get Down with the Philly Jump” Originally Released on November 1, 1976.

“Get Down with the Philly Jump” is the debut studio album by disco/funk band Instant Funk released in 1976 on TSOP Records.

The song “ It Ain't Reggae but It's Funky” was released as the lead single from the album, it reached #24 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play charts.

The album’s highlights include the title track, "Get Down with the Philly Jump", the strutting "The Mack Is Back," and the frenetic "Hop Two, Hop Two," which exemplify the band's tight, funky sound that blends soul, funk, and jazz influences.

While some tracks are considered slight, others like the romantic ballad "So Glad I'm the One" show the band's range.

“Get Down With The Philly Jump”proved to be the only album Instant Funk would release via Philadelphia International Records. The band would go on to find their home on New York’s Salsoul Records.

The album was produced by Bunny Sigler.

Today Marks The 52nd Anniversary of Funk,Inc’s 4th Studio Album “Superfunk” Originally Released on November 1, 1973

“Superfunk” is the fourth studio album by Indianapolis soul, funk band Funk, Inc. released in 1973 on Prestige Records.

The album reached #14 on the U.S. Billboard Top Jazz Albums charts, and at #31 on the U.S. Billboard Top Soul Albums charts.

The album was produced by the legendary David Axelrod, the album is noted for its organic feel and powerful sound.

Some sources suggest Johnny "Guitar" Watson played bass on the album.

The album includes a mix of original tracks and creative cover versions.

The band covers Curtis Mayfield's "Give Me Your Love" and instrumental versions of Barry White's "I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little More Babe" and Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now".

The album also features original material like the classic track "Goodbye, So Long".

 The album gives 70s blaxploitation vibes with midrange and high tempo grooves and its unique blend of styles, sometimes noting that it should have received more mainstream recognition.

The album is often considered one of Funk Inc.'s best efforts.

Today Marks The 54th Anniversary of Earth, Wind & Fire’s 2nd Studio Album “The Need of Love” Originally Released on November 1, 1971.

“The Need of Love” is the second studio album by Funk/Soul band Earth, Wind & Fire released in 1971 on Warner Bros. Records.

The album reached #35 on the U.S. Billboard Top Soul LPs chart, and at #89 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart.

The song "I Think About Lovin' You" was released as the album’s single it reached #44 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart.

The song "Energy” is another standout track with it’s energetic melody is a fan favorite of the earlier band lineup.

The track "Beauty" is seen as a glimpse of their future R&B mastery.

The track, "Everything Is Everything", is a cover of the Donny Hathaway song.

The album was produced by Joe Wissert and recorded at Sunset Sound Studios, Hollywood.

”The Need of Love” would be the band's final album for Warner Bros. until 1993's Millennium on Reprise Records.

Today Marks The 49th Anniversary of Chocolate Milk’s 4th Studio Album “We're All in This Together” Originally Released on November 1, 1977.

“We're All in This Together” is the fourth studio album by by New Orleans, Louisiana Funk band Chocolate Milk released in 1977 on RCA records.

The song “Girl Callin'” was released as the lead single from the album, The song reached #14 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, it also reached #103 just beneath the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

The album is rich with wah-wah guitars, punchy horns, and a strong rhythm section inspired by Sly Stone.

The album was produced by the legendary Allen Toussaint, who also produced some of The Meters' first albums.

Today Marks The 43rd Anniversary of Chic’s 6th Studio Album “Tongue in Chic” Originally Released on November 1, 1982.

“Tongue in Chic” is the sixth studio album by disco/funk band Chic released in 1982 on Atlantic Records.

The album reached #47 on the U.S. Billboard Black LPs chart, and at #173 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes charts.

Two songs were released as singles from the album "Hangin'" and "I Feel Your Love Comin' On".

"Hangin'" reached #48 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart. The song also reached #64 on the UK Singles Charts.

"I Feel Your Love Comin' On" was the second single released from the album it was only in the Netherlands 🇳🇱.

The album was the second of two projects to be written and produced by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers in 1982, the other being the soundtrack to movie Soup for One.

The album was re-released on compact disc by Atlantic Records/Warner Music in 1991.
