Earth, Wind & Fire - The Need of Love

Today Marks The 54th Anniversary of Earth, Wind & Fire’s 2nd Studio Album “The Need of Love” Originally Released on November 1, 1971.

“The Need of Love” is the second studio album by Funk/Soul band Earth, Wind & Fire released in 1971 on Warner Bros. Records.

The album reached #35 on the U.S. Billboard Top Soul LPs chart, and at #89 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart.

The song "I Think About Lovin' You" was released as the album’s single it reached #44 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart.

The song "Energy” is another standout track with it’s energetic melody is a fan favorite of the earlier band lineup.

The track "Beauty" is seen as a glimpse of their future R&B mastery.

The track, "Everything Is Everything", is a cover of the Donny Hathaway song.

The album was produced by Joe Wissert and recorded at Sunset Sound Studios, Hollywood.

”The Need of Love” would be the band's final album for Warner Bros. until 1993's Millennium on Reprise Records.
