The Fatback Band - Hot Box

Today Marks The 46th Anniversary of The Fatback Band’s 13th Studio Album “Hot Box” Originally Released on February 19, 1980.

 

“Hot Box” is the thirteenth studio album by New York City, funk band The Fatback Band released in 1980 by Spring Records.

 

The album peaked at #7 on the U.S. Billboard Soul LP's chart, and at #44 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes charts.

 

Two songs were released as singles "Gotta Get My Hands on Some (Money)" and "Backstrokin'".

 

"Gotta Get My Hands on Some (Money)" peaked at #6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart.

 

"Backstrokin'" peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, and at #43 on the U.S. Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.

 

“Hot Box” became the band’s highest charting album on the U.S. Billboard charts .

 

The album was produced by the band’s founder William Curtis and Gerry Thomas who also served as the band’s keyboard player who also in the funk bands The Jimmy Castor Bunch, and Mynk.
