Earth, Wind & Fire - Heritage

Today Marks The 36th Anniversary of Earth Wind & Fire’s 15th Studio Album “Heritage” Originally Released on February 17, 1990.

“Heritage” is the fifteenth studio album by R&B funk band Earth, Wind & Fire, released in February 1990 on Columbia Records.

The album features a blend of 1990s danceable beats and R&B, with some tracks incorporating rap, designed to update their sound for a new, younger audience.

The album reached #19 on the U.S. Billboard Top R&B Albums chart.

Three songs were released as singles from the album, “Heritage”, "For the Love of You" and "Wanna Be the Man".

“Heritage” peaked at #5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart.

"For the Love of You" reached #19 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart.

"Wanna Be the Man" reached #46 on the  U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart.

The song "King of Groove" is noted for its high-energy, bass-driven sound, while "Interlude: Close to Home" is highlighted for its tender, synthy balladry.

Some fans and critics have criticized the album as to be a bit inconsistent or "all over the place" compared to their 70s peak, Heritage is generally considered a strong effort to maintain relevance during a transitional period for R&B.

The album was produced by Earth, Wind & Fire’s band founder and band leader Maurice White.
