Today Marks The 51st Anniversary of George Duke’s 5th Studio Album “The Aura Will Prevail” Originally Released on January 1, 1975.

 

“The Aura Will Prevail” is the fifth studio album by jazz-funk keyboardist George Duke released in 1975 through MPS Records.

 

The album reached #111 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart.

 

The album is primarily a jazz-fusion effort, highlighting Duke's synthesizer mastery with intricate, energetic instrumentals like "Floop de Loop" and "Funny Funk".

 

The album features contributions from Alphonso Johnson, Leon "Ndugu" Chancler and Airto Moreira.

 

Duke's collaboration with Frank Zappa shines in his versions of Zappa's complex "Echidna's Arf" and soulful "Uncle Remus," adding depth and familiarity.

 

Duke played various keyboard instruments on the album, including Rhodes electric piano, Wurlitzer electric piano, Hohner clavinet, ARP Odyssey, ARP String Ensemble, Mutron Phaser, Mutron Dual Phaser, Minimoog, Moog bass and various pedalboards.
