Kool & the Gang - Good Times

Today Marks The 53rd Anniversary of Kool & the Gang’s 3rd Studio Album “Good Times” Originally Released on November 1, 1972.

“Good Times” is the third studio album by Jazz-Funk band Kool & the Gang released in 1972 on De-Lite Records.

The album reached #34 on the U.S. Billboard Best Selling Soul LP's chart, and at #142 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes charts.

Two songs were released as singles, the album’s title track "Good Times" and "Country Junky" both song failed to chart on the Billboard charts.

Some of the album’s standouts are "Rated X", I Remember John W. Coltrane", “NEWS” and "Father, Father".

The album demonstrates the band's early funk-jazz style before their move toward mainstream success with records like Wild and Peaceful, which was released the following year.

The album “Good Times” is considered a representative, but not essential, early work for the band, offering a snapshot of their sound before their biggest hits in the late 1970s and 1980s.
