Today Marks The 41st Anniversary of The Jackson’s 15th Studio Album “Victory” Originally Released on July 2, 1984.
“Victory” is the fifteenth studio album by the Jacksons, released in 1984 on Epic Records.
The album peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Albums chart, and at #4 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.
Four songs were released as singles from the album "State of Shock", "Torture”, "Body" and “Wait”.
"State of Shock" peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
"Torture” peaked at #9 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, and at #12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart.
"Body" reached #39 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart , and at #47 on the Billboard Hot 100.
"Wait" was the fourth single from the album it failed to chart in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Jermaine Jackson did not have a solo song on The Jacksons' "Victory" album because, although he rejoined the group for the album, he was not fully involved in the creative process for all the tracks. He contributed vocals to the song "Torture," but it was a duet with Michael, not a solo performance.
The album was supported by the Victory Tour, with Michael, who had recently released the world's all-time best-selling album, Thriller (1982), being prominently featured on the tour's setlist. None of the songs from Victory were performed on the tour.
The album Victory became the Jacksons' only studio album to top a national chart, and their only top 10 album in the UK.
Victory was certified 2× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in the United States in October 1984, and sold 7 million copies worldwide.
The album received a digital expanded reissue on April 30, 2021, alongside other Jacksons albums.
