Sly & the Family Stone - Small Talk

Today Marks The 51st Anniversary of Sly & The Family Stone’s 7th Studio Album “Small Talk” Originally Released on July 1, 1974.

“Small Talk” is the seventh studio album by Sly & the Family Stone, released in 1974 on Epic Records.

The album reached #15 on the U.S. Billboard Pop Albums chart.

The album's singles were "Time for Livin'" and "Loose Booty".

"Time for Livin'" peaked at #10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart and at #32 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

“Loose Booty” reached #22 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart and at #84 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

In addition to the single releases, other hard funk counterpoints to the mellow tunes are "Can't Strain My Brain" and "Better Thee Than Me".

The cover of the album showed a picture of Stone, his wife Kathleen Silva, and baby Sly Jr. On 5 June 1974, the pair were married onstage at Madison Square Garden; the marriage lasted five months.

In addition to the album’s standard stereo release, “Small Talk” was also released in quadraphonic sound.
