Today Marks The 49th Anniversary of Heatwave’s Debut Studio Album “Too Hot to Handle” Originally Released on June 15, 1976.
“Too Hot to Handle” is the debut studio album by funk-disco band Heatwave, released 1976 on Epic Records.
The album peaked at #5 on the U.S. Billboard Top Soul LPs chart, and at #11 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs chart.
Five songs were released as singles from the album "Ain't No Half Steppin'", "Super Soul Sister", "Boogie Nights", "Too Hot to Handle" and "Always and Forever".
The album’s first two singles "Ain't No Half Steppin'" and "Super Soul Sister" both failed to chart in the United States and the United Kingdom.
"Boogie Nights" peaked at #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and at #5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles charts,
"Too Hot to Handle" was released as a single in the United Kingdom it reached #15 on the UK singles chart.
"Always and Forever" peaked at #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart and #18 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song "Turn Out the Lamplight" appeared on George Benson's album Give Me the Night, a song written by Temperton, which was produced by Quincy Jones.
The album was remastered and reissued with bonus tracks in 2015 by Big Break Records.
