Today Marks The 44th Anniversary of Chaka Khan’s 3rd Studio Album “What Cha' Gonna Do for Me” Originally Released on April 15, 1981.“What Cha' Gonna Do for Me” is the third solo studio album by American R&B/funk singer Chaka Khan, released in 1981 on Warner Bros. Records.

The album peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Soul LP's chart, and at #35 on the U.S. Billboard Top Jazz Albums chart.

Four songs were released as singles in the United States, The album’s title track "What Cha' Gonna Do for Me", "We Can Work It Out", "Any Old Sunday" and "I Know You, I Live You".

"What Cha' Gonna Do for Me" peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, #22 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Singles chart and at #53 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

"We Can Work It Out" reached #34 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, #22 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Singles chart.

"Any Old Sunday" reached #68 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart.

"I Know You, I Live You" failed to chart on the U.S. Billboard Music charts.

"Heed The Warning" was the fifth single released from the album it was released in the United Kingdom only.

The instrumental intro to "Fate" has been sampled by a host of dance acts all through the 1990s and 2000s, most notably by Stardust on their 1998 hit single "Music Sounds Better With You" and a section of "I Know You I Live You" also features on "Bad Habit" by ATFC & Onephatdeeva feat. Lisa Milett.The album was certified gold in the United States by the RIAA with sales of 500,000^ units sold.

The album was never released on CD in the United States. But was re-issued on CD in both Europe and Japan.
