Today Marks The 45th Anniversary of Sun’s 4th Studio Anniversary “Destination: Sun” Originally Released on June 15, 1979.
“Destination: Sun” is the fourth studio album by Dayton, Ohio funk band Sun released in 1979 on Capitol Records.
The album reached #17 on the U.S. Billboard Top Soul Albums chart and at #85 on the U.S. Billboard Pop Albums chart.
Two songs were released from the album as singles "Pure Fire" and "Radiation Level".
"Pure Fire" reached #65 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart.
"Radiation Level" reached #25 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart.
Destination: Sun’s album cover-art was designed by Japanese illustrator Shusei Nagaoka whose best known for music album cover art in the 1970s and 1980s. Artists for whom he illustrated covers include Electric Light Orchestra, Earth, Wind & Fire, Deep Purple, Space, Maze, George Clinton, Kitaro, Rose Royce, Caldera, and Pure Prairie League.
