The album peaked at #2 on the U.S. Billboard Soul Albums chart and at #35 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart.
Three songs were released as singles in 1974, "My Thang", "Papa Don't Take No Mess" and "Coldblooded".
"My Thang" peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard R&B singles chart and reached #29 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
"Papa Don't Take No Mess" peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard R&B singles chart and reached #31 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
"Coldblooded" reached #99 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
