Today Marks The 52nd Anniversary of The Meters’ 4th Studio Album “Cabbage Alley” Originally Released on May 11, 1972.
“Cabbage Alley” is the fourth studio album by the funk group the Meters released in May 1972 by Reprise Records.
The album reached #48 on the Billboard Top Soul LPs chart, but unlike the group's first two albums, it missed the Billboard Top LPs and Tape chart.
The title track “Cabbage Alley” and "Do the Dirt" were issued as singles from the album.
“Cabbage Alley” was the group's first album released in the United Kingdom, It was issued to coincide with their tour of the country.
The album received wide acclaim from music critics such as Rolling Stone magazine, The Windsor Star and The Montreal Star and other publications whom deemed it the band's best album yet.
