The album peaked at #7 on the U.S. Billboard Top Soul LPs chart, and at #52 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs chart.

Two songs were released as singles from the album "Love Ballad" and the album’s title track “Love to the World”.

"Love Ballad" peaked # 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, and at #20 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

"Love to the World" reached #27 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, and at #91 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

Today Marks The 45th Anniversary of Breakwater’s Sophomore Studio Album “Splashdown” Originally Released on June 4, 1980.

“Splashdown” is the second studio album by Philadelphia funk/soul band, Breakwater released in 1980 by Arista Records.

The album reached #34 on the U.S. Billboard US Black Albums chart.

Three singles were released from the album “Splashdown Time”, “Say You Love Me Girl” and "Release The Beast".

“Splashdown Time” reached #59 on the U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and #62 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

“Say You Love Me Girl” reached #79 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

"Release The Beast" was the third single from the album it failed to chart on the Billboard charts.

Betty Davis - Nasty Gal

Today Marks The 50th Anniversary of Betty Davis’ 3rd Studio Album “Nasty Gal” Originally Released on June 4, 1975.

“Nasty Gal” is the third studio album by American funk musician Betty Davis. It was released in 1975 on Island Records.

“Nasty Gal” was Betty Davis' first album on a major label It failed commercially upon release, and after the failure of this album Island Records shelved her planned follow-up album. shortly after this album's release. Davis felt pressured by the label and abandoned her music career altogether.

The album was reissued on Light in the Attic Records in 2009 on CD, and again in 2018 on colored vinyl in conjunction with record club Vinyl Me, Please, which has rekindled interest in the album by music critics and fans, generating favorable retrospective reviews.

Today Marks The 48th Anniversary of The Meters 8th Studio Album “New Directions” Originally Released on June 1, 1977.

“New Directions” is the eighth and studio album by the funk band the Meters, released in 1977 on Warner Bros. Records.

Upon release the album failed to reach the Billboard charts.

The song “Be My Lady” was released as a single from the album. The song reached #78 on both the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Singles and the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

The album was the band's only album recorded outside New Orleans. The album features the Oakland-based Tower of Power horn section.

“Cornbread, Earl and Me (Soundtrack)” is a movie soundtrack track that features The Blackbyrds and was composed by jazz musician Donald Byrd. The album was released in 1975 on Fantasy Records.

The Blackbyrds provided the soundtrack for the 1975 blaxploitation film Cornbread, Earl and Me, which featured the movie debut of Larry Fishburne.

The soundtrack peaked at #19 on the U.S. Billboard R&B Album charts, #39 on the U.S. Billboard Jazz Album charts and at #150 on the U.S. Billboard 200.
