Mary Jane Girls - Only for You

Today marks the 41st anniversary of The Mary Jane Girls sophomore album "Only Four You", originally released on February 14, 1985.

 

“Only Four You” is the second and last studio album by R&B funk vocal girl group Mary Jane Girls, released 1985 on Gordy/Motown Records.

 

The album reached #18 on the U.S. Billboard 200 charts.

 

The album includes their biggest hit single, "In My House" (#7 Pop, #3 R&B, #1 Dance).

 

Other singles included "Wild and Crazy Love" (#42 Pop, #10 R&B, #3 Dance) and "Break It Up" (#79 R&B, #33 Dance).

 

“Only Four You” was certified gold in the United States by the RIAA on June 1985.

 

Rick James gave each member a chance to sing lead vocals on a track from the album, with Corvette singing lead on "Girlfriend", Candi with "I Betcha" and Maxi with "Leather Queen".

 

The lead singer JoJo (Joanne McDuffie) sung lead on the album’s biggest hits “In My House" and "Wild and Crazy Love".
