Today Marks The 44th Anniversary of WAR’s 14th Studio Album “Outlaw” Originally Released on January 13. 1982.
“Outlaw” is the fourteenth studio album by progressive soul funk band WAR released in 1982 on RCA Records.
The album reached #15 on the U.S. Billboard Black LPs chart and at #48 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart.
Four singles were released from the album “Cinco De Mayo”, "You Got the Power", "Outlaw" and "Just Because".
“Cinco De Mayo” reached #90 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart and at #56 on the Billboard Hot 100.
"You Got the Power" reached #18 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart and at #66 on the Billboard Hot 100.
"Outlaw" reached #13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart and at #94 on the Billboard Hot 100.
"Just Because" was the fourth single released from the album it failed to chart.
“Outlaw” was War's first album recorded for RCA Records.
The band supported the album with a North American tour.
The album was re-released on CD in 1995 with a different running order and the extended version of "Cinco de Mayo" added as a bonus track.
