“Flying Start ” is the second studio album by the jazz-funk fusion band the Blackbyrds, released in 1974 on Fantasy Records.
The album peaked at #2 on the U.S. Billboard Top Jazz LPs chart, #5 on the U.S. Billboard Top Soul LPs chart, and at #30 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes charts.
The album includes the top ten hit single "Walking in Rhythm".
"Walking in Rhythm" peaked at #4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, #5 on the U.S. Billboard Easy Listening chart, and at #6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
The album was produced by Donald Byrd, and was executively produced by Orrin Keepnews.
