Prince - Diamonds and Pearls

Today Marks The 34th Anniversary of Prince’s #13 Studio Album “Diamonds and Pearls “ Originally Released on October 1, 1991.

“Diamonds and Pearls” is the thirteenth studio album by Minneapolis, Minnesota musician Prince, and the first with his backing band The New Power Generation. It was released in 1991 on Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records.

The album peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Top R&B Albums chart, and at #3 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.

The album also charted well overseas peaking at #1 on the Australian ARIA Albums Charts, and at #2 on the United Kingdom’s Official Albums Charts.

Five tracks were released from the album in the United States, "Gett Off", "Cream", "Insatiable", "Diamonds and Pearls" and "Money Don't Matter 2 Night".

"Gett Off" peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Dance Club Songs, #6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Singles, and at #21 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

"Cream" peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, however, it did not make the Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart because it was not sent to urban radio stations.

"Insatiable" peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart, and at #77 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

"Diamonds and Pearls" peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart, and at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The song also rose to #40 on the U.S. Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.

"Money Don't Matter 2 Night" reached #14 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart, and at #23 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

 The album was certified 2× Platinum in the United States by the RIAA and sold 7,100,000 copies worldwide.
