Maze - Silky Soul

Today Marks The 36th Anniversary of Maze’s 7th Studio Album “Silky Soul” Originally Released on September 1, 1989.

“Silky Soul” is the seventh studio album and ninth overall album by the Bay Area-based R&B group Maze, released in 1989 on Warner Bros. Records.

The album peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Top Black Albums chart, and at #37 on the U.S. Billboard Top Pop Albums chart.

Four songs were released as singles from the album, "Can't Get Over You", "Silky Soul", "Love's on the Run" and "Songs of Love".

"Can't Get Over You" peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart. The also reached #89 on the UK singles chart.

"Silky Soul" peaked at #4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart.

"Love's on the Run" reached #13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart.

"Songs of Love" reached #37 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart.

The song "Silky Soul" was a tribute to the late great singer Marvin Gaye. The album of the same name, was written as a dedication to their mentor and friend, Marvin Gaye.
