The Commodores - In The Pocket

Today Marks The 44th Anniversary of The Commodore’s 9th Studio Album “In the Pocket” Originally Released on June 22, 1981.

“In the Pocket” is the ninth studio album by the American R&B/Funk group the Commodores, released in 1981 by Motown Records.

The album peaked at #4 on the U.S. Billboard Soul LP's chart, and at #13 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs & Tapes charts.

Two songs were released as singles from the album "Lady (You Bring Me Up)" and "Oh No".

"Lady (You Bring Me Up)" peaked at #5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles chart, and at #8 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts.

"Oh No" peaked at #4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and at #5 on both the Billboard’s Hot Black Singles and Adult Contemporary charts.

“In the Pocket” would serve as Lionel Richie’s last album with the Commodores as he left the band to start a solo career the following year.

The album was certified platinum in the United States by the RIAA selling a million copies.
