Today Marks The 36th Anniversary of The Average White Band’s 10th Studio Album “Aftershock” Originally Released on May 31, 1989.
“Aftershock” is the tenth studio album by Scottish funk and R&B band The Average White Band released in 1989 on Track Records.
The album reached #69 on the U.S. Billboard Top Black Albums charts.
Two songs were released as singles from the album “The Spirit of Love” and
“The Spirit of Love” reached #47 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Black Singles charts. The song features R8B vocalists Chaka Khan and Ronnie Laws.
"Sticky Situation" was the second song released from the album it failed to chart in the United States Billboard music charts.
The album “Aftershock” saw the return of three original band members, They were reduced to a trio consisting of singer/bassist Alan Gorrie, guitarist/singer Onnie McIntyre, and saxophonist Roger Ball. Singer, guitarist and drummer Alex Ligertwood also joined the band.
The album was quite successful in Europe.
