Today Marks The 49th Anniversary of KC & The Sunshine Band’s Sophomore Self-Titled Album “KC and the Sunshine Band” Originally Released on July 6, 1975.
“KC and the Sunshine Band” is the second studio album by KC and the Sunshine Band released in 1975 by TK Records.
The album peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Top R&B Albums chart and at #4 on the U.S. Billboard 200.
"Get Down Tonight" peaked at #1 on both the U.S. Billboard R&B Singles Chart and the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, The song also peaked at #6 on the U.S. Billboard US Billboard Hot Disco Singles.
"That's the Way (I Like It)" peaked at #1 on both the U.S. Billboard R&B Singles Chart and the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, The song also peaked at #18 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Chart.
“I'm So Crazy ('Bout You)” was the album’s third single it was released in the United Kingdom and reached #34 on the UK Singles chart.
The song "Boogie Shoes" became popular after it was featured on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack in 1977.
The song was subsequently released as a single it peaked #35 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and at #29 on the soul chart in 1978. Before its 1978 release as an A-side, the song was the B-side to the 1976 single "Shake Your Booty".
The song “I Get Lifted” was also a popular song from the album that got heavy rotation on the radio and local nightclubs. It was originally released as a single for R&B, Disco singer George McCrae it was released in 1974 on his album Rock Your Baby".
The album was remastered and reissued with bonus tracks in 2012 by Big Break Records.
