“Gap Band IV” is the sixth studio album by the Gap Band, released in 1982 on Total Experience Records.
The album peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Top Soul Albums chart and at #14 on the U.S. Billboard Pop Albums chart.
"Early in the Morning" peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, #13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance/Disco Club Play charts and at #24 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
"You Dropped a Bomb on Me" peaked at #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, #31 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #39 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance/Disco Club Play charts.
"Outstanding" peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, #24 on the the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance/Disco Club Play charts and at #51 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
“Gap Band IV” achieved platinum status, and is considered their most successful commercially released album.
